Congratulations to all our colleagues who have successfully secured a training contract with us. They’re well on their way to qualifying as solicitors and we’re looking forward to watching them progress.
Our trainees across the firm have many different backgrounds and have taken different paths on their journey into law. We’re proud to be such an inclusive and supportive employer – and we’re definitely not your typical law firm!
Good luck to our 9 newest trainees, including James Raven and Phoebe Stear and here are some of their stories:
Jack Waywell
Paralegal
I joined the Dispute Resolution Team in April 2023, which was my first experience in commercial disputes. Since then, I’ve enjoyed providing administrative support to the wider team and have progressed to running my own caseload under close supervision from my colleagues.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at HF so far, and I’m looking forward to developing my legal skills and insight throughout the duration of my Training Contract.
Victoria Wilson
Litigation Executive
I started at HF just over two years ago. During the final year of my law degree I applied for the role of Litigation Executive in the Fraud Department. I started at HF, in the Technical Fraud Team, a month after completing my degree.
After three months in the role, I started studying the LPC MSc in Law, Business and Management, studying the course part-time in the evenings for two years. Working full time and studying part time was a lot to balance, but they both helped me develop in my work and within the course. In the Technical Fraud team I’m fortunate to work alongside some of the best technical minds in the industry.
As I neared the end of the LPC MSc I applied for a training contract at HF and I’m very excited to be starting that at the end of the month. It’s the final step before hopefully qualifying as a solicitor in 18 months’ time.
Priyank Mistry
Litigation Executive
I started my HF journey in December 2022 and it has been one of drive, direction, and growth. My legal skills have expanded and my growth within my role has allowed me to successfully obtain a training contract.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to progress my legal career with such an amazing firm, surrounded by people who encourage development. I would like to give a special shout out to my team leaders Claudia Shaw and Geraint Thomas for their ongoing support and guidance.
I’m very much looking forward to continuing my journey with HF as I go on to become a qualified solicitor.
Alun Davies
Litigation Executive
I joined HF straight after finishing university in July 2022 and since then I’ve learned and developed in my role from the support and experiences given by those in the Recoveries Department.
After joining, I started the Legal Practice Course on a part time basis and the flexible working culture allowed me to complete the course as well as working full time.
I have met many people in HF with them becoming some of my closest friends and the support of the team has led me to now securing a training contract.
Laiba Malik
Litigation Executive
My HF career started in September 2023 as a Litigation Executive with no experience in recoveries.
I was in my final year of my LPC and worked hard to pass my probation within the first 6 months. My experience and knowledge grew over time and I applied for the training contract as the next goal on my journey to becoming a solicitor.
I work hard and will continue to do my very best – I’m excited to see what the future holds on my journey to becoming a solicitor and I’m grateful for the opportunities HF has provided as well as the support I’ve received.
Catherine O’Rourke
Litigation Executive
I started my HF career in 2018 as a young student with little to no legal experience, doing legal administration.
My journey since has been one of huge growth and direction. I went on to complete my Law Degree and LPC. After completing my LPC I gained my first fee earner role in the Counter Fraud team. I have gone on to work with the Aviation team, and now both the Disease and Casualty teams.
These experiences have allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge. I’m now very excited to take the next steps in my career at HF by becoming a trainee solicitor!
Salman Baig
Litigation Executive
I began my HF career in June 2023 as a litigation executive in the recoveries department. This was my first legal job and I had applied after completing the first year of my LPC/LLM.
I settled into my team and department quickly and have worked hard over the past 15 months, passing my probation and being signed off on all areas of the litigation process.
I have always aspired to be a solicitor and with the support of my team leader and head of department I successfully applied for the training contract.
I’ve now completed my LPC and can’t wait to start my training contract. I’m grateful for the many opportunities HF provides for me to progress in my legal career and I look forward to the next 18 months as a trainee solicitor.
