Horwich Farrelly employees raise £2,600 for trio of charities

October, 6, 2016

A 72 hour fundraising marathon by Horwich Farrelly employees has helped raise more than £2,600 for three separate charities.

The first initiative saw more than a dozen people from our head office take part in the Manchester Legal Walk on Thursday 29 September.

The 10km sponsored walk around the city centre brought together around 200 people from local law schools, chambers, law firms and legal advice organisations to raise much needed funds for the provision of free legal advice to those who cannot afford it.

This is the second year in a row Horwich Farrelly has participated in the event, with the team raising £162.

The following day, all six of the firm’s offices took part in the Macmillan coffee morning, a nationwide event designed to bring people together over a coffee and cake and to raise funds for cancer charity Macmillan.

Our people baked some real showstoppers which helped raise £1,062.

Later that day four colleagues from our Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool offices volunteered to Brave the Shave for the cancer charity.

The initiative seeks to encourage men and women to shave their heads to stand proudly with cancer sufferers experiencing hair loss. By agreeing to have their locks lopped off in return for a donation they raised a further £1,260 for the charity.

Finally, on Saturday colleagues from our Sheffield office took part in the local Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk. The walk, the last of six attended by Horwich Farrelly’s people in recent weeks, seeks to celebrate loved ones affected by dementia and raise money for the charity.

The event raised £162 which will go towards our £10,000 fundraising target for Alzheimer’s Society, as this year’s nominated charity.

The total amount raised over the three days came to an incredible £2,646. Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser.
