Joining Horwich Farrelly’s Counter-Fraud department in 2011, David now runs a 20+ strong team who specialise in defending a variety of dishonest claims on behalf of not only insurers and self-insureds but also large corporates, high street brands and public sector organisations.
In 2015, his team was recognised for the sector-defining results they were achieving for clients by winning four industry awards. The schemes were also commended by the then Secretary of State for Justice. Notable cases David has worked on include Jet2holidays v Weir & others in which a family of four were handed suspended sentences after submitting fraudulent holiday sickness claims, and Burnett v Aviva which led to the first ever prosecution by the Attorney General in a case involving insurance fraud.
As well as contributing to the media on a wide range of issues affecting the industry, David has appeared on Claimed and Shamed and The One Show. A regular speaker at legal conferences and seminars on subjects such as fundamental dishonesty and QOCS, he also provides in-depth training to clients on how to identify, analyse and combat fraudulent claims.
