Tackling insurance fraud remains a strategic priority, with one insurance fraud being detected every minute in the industry. The Insurance Post Fraud Awards recognise outstanding initiatives and technology, and champion the individuals and teams who go above and beyond to combat fraud in the industry. Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony in London on 3rd October 2019.

Through Horwich Farrelly’s award-winning training scheme, Philip’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric.  He started in an administration role and progressed through paralegal, Senior Litigation Executive and now, client-facing Solicitor positions. Philip deals primarily, with one of the business’s most important insurer clients and their most complex, technical and high value cases.

Commenting on being shortlisted, Philip Melia said: “I am extremely grateful to everyone at Horwich Farrelly for the support, guidance and opportunities they have given me ever since I joined, including being nominated for this prestigious award. I have always been encouraged to progress and develop my skills in what is such a rewarding role within counter-fraud.

“The issue of fraud is rife within the insurance industry. Fraudsters are continuing to evolve their tactics, meaning that all of us as fraud investigators have to develop our strategies to stay one step ahead, ensuring that we successfully combat these claims.”

Jared Mallinson, Fraud partner at Horwich Farrelly added: “Through demonstrable hard work and dedication, an investigative approach and a thirst for knowledge, Philip has shown time and time again that he has what it takes to build a very successful career in a highly competitive market.

“His genuine empathy with lay and professional clients alike, who suffer at the hands of fraudsters, is second to none and he has already started to build a strong name for himself within the counter-fraud legal world which is testament to his successful approach to handling such claims. We are immensely proud of his commitment and dedication being recognised. We wish him luck at the awards ceremony in October.”
