At the start of 2020 we took a look at the proposed reform programme for motor regulation and safety.

Whilst some of the schemes and reforms progressed, there was inevitable delay caused by the outbreak of Covid-19.

The fatality statistics for road accidents in 2018 showed 1874 deaths, no real improvement from 2010.  Figures released for 2019 show a further reduction of 2% to 1,752, but they remain too high.

With the Government’s stated aim of removing fossil fuel vehicles from the roads by 2030, we have taken stock and believe that, despite the new national lockdown, progress will be made in 2021.
