Matthew has specialised in personal injury claims for over 25 years with a focus for the last 20 years on occupational disease cases.
He has particular expertise in short tail diseases such as work-related upper limb/cumulative back conditions, foot/lower limb injuries, occupational asthma, and dermatitis. His broad experience includes dealing with conditions such as Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis, lead poisoning and Legionnaire’s disease and cases arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, including a fatality.
Matthew also has an interest in fraud arising from disease claims and in one case was successful in securing a finding of fundamental dishonesty against a claimant who alleged they had sustained a cumulative back condition. He is increasingly being instructed on stress at work and bullying/harassment in the workplace claims. He acts for both insurers and corporate clients.
